Brad's interview on 'Blogtalkradio" with Simon Barrett
"Much to the excitement of bass players around the world, bass guitar virtuoso Brad Russell has released his debut solo album 'Let's Hear It!' on Steve Vai's Digital Nations label. Featuring guitar legend Joe Satriani, 'Let's Hear It!' explores musical frontiers where no bassist has gone before! Brad is a true bass hero and his debut CD is a solid sampling of creative cutting edge “lead” rock bass playing. Russell taps, slaps and shreds his four-string bass, sounding more like a six string guitar – fans of Billy Sheehan will not be disappointed. "

Interview : "Digital Nations"

Brads Interview with Digital Nations about the album:

Talk about the record. Where did you get the idea from? What is the inspiration behind this album?
As a bass player ,I have played on many sessions and live performances as a sideman and love being able to provide support to other soloists. But I felt it was time to “cut loose” and play the bass the way I hear it! I’ve always loved “lead” players such as Billy Sheehan and Stanley Clarke and I wanted to take what I’ve learned from listening to them and put my own style to it!

Who are the musicians that play on the record?
Brad Russell-bass & tenor bass Gregg Bissonette-drums (except “Native Tongue” Joe Satriani -first guitar solo on “Zattack” Kevin Russell-last guitar solo on “Brothers” Steve Kindler-electric violin on “Native Tongue”

Who are some of the bands/musicians that influenced you?
Stanley Clarke,Billy Sheehan,Eddie Van Halen,Steve Vai,Joe Satriani and a million more!

I actually recorded ALL the bass tracks in my NYC apartment at full volume thru various amp rigs! Thanks to my neighbors for not calling the police on me!

Do you have any projects that you are currently working on right now? Any in the future? Any plans to tour?
Yes,I just completed tracks with drummer Gregg Bissonette and I plan on adding three or four more songs to the ‘Let’s Hear iT!” CD

What was the most challenging aspect of creating this record?
